My name is Amy. I live in Eastern Washington with my husband, our two boys, and our twin girls. We also have a crazy toy fox terrier,Lilly.

I graduated from the Art Institute of Seattle
in 1993 with a degree in graphic design.

When we first adopted Lilly I wanted to buy a figurine of her to give as a gift to the family that sold her to us. I found out that if you don’t have a popular breed it is almost impossible to find a figurine that resembles your dog. So...I sculpted my own. That is how KlayKennel started. I found that pets make great subjects for sculpting.

People everywhere cherish their pets.
A sculpture is a great way to keep them near you always. I love the photos and the wonderful stories I receive. I have met some wonderful people who truly adore their animals.

I use polymer clay for my sculptures because it is very soft, doesn’t air dry and it's not messy at all. After they are fired I paint them with acrylic paints. Finally, I spray them with a clear acrylic matte sealer.
